Antique French Bed Warmer, Hot Water Bottle, Primitive Pottery c. late 1800's, Brown
This item is a wonderful piece of French history.
It is a hand made pottery hot water bottle. In the late 1800's and very early 1900's,
no French home was without either this type of hot water bottle or a metal bed warmer.
It would have been used to warm the bed on those cold winter nights.
Colours are as shown in pictures.
This particular bottle is very primitively made and glazed.
It a metal holder and porcelain stopper. Being so old, I believe it would not be a good idea to remove the porcelain plug, as the rubber ring is so old and brittle, it may break.
The bottle is quite heavy!
