This exquisite Antique French Fine Linen Top Dowry Sheet in excellent condition.
The sheet has a beautifully hand embroidered monogram with the initials - "L.L." - which measures 4 1/2" tall x 4 3/4" wide. The monogram is above a beautiful hand embroidered flower appliqué.
The Dowry sheet is tagged with a white linen identification ribbon with the bride's and groom's names in red embroidery: "Leconte-Letellier."
Intricately worked hand drawn thread work delicately adorns the top hem.
This luxurious linen is white in colour.
There is one tiny hole near the side and close to a 1/2" x 1/2" tear that appears to have been from the sheet catching on a metal frame when tucked in. The tear is near the bottom and 5" from the edge. If mended, it would not interfere with the sheet's beauty or comfort. If preferred, one could simply hem each side evenly, or reduce the length of the sheet, in order to hide the tear completely.
The two bottom corners are marked with laundry identification marks.
Any discolouration or wear would be commensurate with age and storage.
It may need a refreshing Oxy wash.
